First off, Road Atlanta is nearly an hour away from Atlanta. It's technically in a town to the northeast called Braselton. It does have small-town charms, but not much else to offer to visitors looking for more than those quaint offerings.
There are two things that bring people to Braselton: Road Atlanta and Chateau Elan. Road Atlanta is one of the best tracks in the world. It big, it's fast, and it's fun. It also hosts major races in addition to various club events. Chateau Elan is a winery and resort created by the same guy that started Panoz Motorsports (among other things).
Where to Stay, What to Do
If you want to skip the long drive back and forth between the track and Atlanta, the nicest place to stay is going to be Chateau Elan. For those people that don't mind more of a drive, there are countless options in the Atlanta metro area - the northeast side of which isn't far from Road Atlanta. And there are options around the track for more basic lodging.
Getting to Road Atlanta
Given how far Road Atlanta is from actual Atlanta, it's probably not a good idea to use a taxi, Uber, or Lyft to get to the track from the airport. You're much better off renting a car if you're flying into Atlanta.
This was the first road course I've ever driven on, and it's still the one I find myself looking back at as the most impressive. It's 2.54 miles long, has an incredibly long back straight, and a notoriously terrifying downhill turn that is guaranteed to make you think twice about your life choices the first time you encounter it.
